My own personal experiments with wearable AR and Unity development.
Hololens and Philips Hue Lights
I believe the inherent strength of AR is the ability to add another layer of context over real life. This was a short project using the Hololens to visualize controls over my living room lights.
I created the interface using components provided by Microsofts Design Lab and hooked it up to the Phillips Hue API. For interaction, a simple air tap can be used to turn on and off the lights. To bring up more complex information, I used the tap and hold gesture. This lets you control more details like color and dimness.
Oculus Quest Hand Tracking + Photogrammetry + Azure Kinect
I used the Oculus Quest to simulate an AR experience by using a combination of hand tracking and photogrammetry. I mapped a 3D scan of my studio apartment to the same physical location for me to walk through.
In this experience, I added an Azure Kinect to see a mirrored point cloud version of myself along with hand controls to start/stop the camera.
